“Can you see it? Brother drew it with his blood. It must have been painful for him, after having his left leg taken away. But brother affixed my soul to this suit and gave up his right arm as compensation. I want to fix my brother’s body. Brother wants to get my body back, too. But we may die trying. That’s the path we’ve chosen.”
I love my dark skin. Maybe I should express it more. Be a positive influence for dark girls all around me, Lord knows there are too many insecure dark women in the world.
Love the skin you’re in, no matter what the shade.
I somehow ended up with a subscription to Nylon magazine. Pages upon pages of pasty white chicks with stick straight hair. They look nothing like me or my friends. I’ve decided that there needs to be a magazine for us. An outlet showcasing that we’re just as beautiful and stylish. This is something I’d like to put some serious work into over the next few months. Any suggestions or advice is welcome as I wouldnt even know where to begin. I’ll keep you updated.
This was shot on St. Johns University campus and unfortunetly the opinions portrayed by the students in this video makes up the majority of their opinions on the subject.
What can we do to change this?
I love being Black. Not light-skinned, not dark-skinned but just black.
just watched this with Boyfriend, who is white, and he’s genuinely shocked. “but… they’re all beautiful. is this real?”
clearly we have quite a discussion ahead. can’t wait to watch the full documentary.
I’m lucky enough to have grown up in a family that fed my ego all my life, so other people’s ignorance didn’t get the best of me. my black is beautiful. :)
